Police request assistance with robbery investigation, Security camera images of suspect released
The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a suspect for a series of bank robberies.
It is reported that:
- since May 2011, the man has robbed eight banks in Toronto,
- he would approach the teller and make a demand for cash, indicating he was armed with a handgun.
The suspect is described as 5'6"-5'9", 23-33.
Security camera images of the suspect have been released.

Man faces nine charges in firearms investigation, Loaded firearm seized
On Saturday, July 24, 2011, members of the TAVIS Rapid Response Team were on patrol in the Jane Street/Firgrove Cresent area.
It is alleged that:
- police saw a man in a schoolyard on Firgrove Cresent,
- the man threw a loaded .9mm handgun to the ground,
- the man was investigated by police and the firearm was then recovered.
Tevahn Orr, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
2) Possession of firearm obtained by the commission of an offence,
3) Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
4) Careless storage of a firearm,
5) Weapons Dangerous,
6) Possession of a firearm, contrary to a prohibition order,
7) Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition,
8) Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order,
9) Possess firearm knowing the serial number has been altered, defaced or removed,
The accused was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Sunday, July 23, 2011, room 101, 10 a.m.

2011 Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto Parade, Saturday, July 30, 2011, Road closures
On Saturday, July 30, 2011, the 44th annual Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto Parade will take place on Lake Shore Boulevard West, between Strachan Avenue and Colborne Lodge Drive.
The festival will require numerous road closures and restrictions which will lead to delays and congestion in the area of the parade.
Road closures:
The following Gardiner Expressway ramps will be closed at 12:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 30, 2011:
- eastbound Gardiner Expressway exit to Jameson Avenue,
- Jameson Avenue and British Columbia Drive entrance ramps to eastbound Gardiner Expressway,
- westbound Gardiner Expressway exit to Dunn Avenue.
The following closures will begin at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011:
- westbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, from Strachan Avenue to Parkside Drive, and
- eastbound Lake Shore Boulvard West, from Colborne Lodge to Strachan Avenue.
Vehicle access west of Bathurst Street, on Fleet Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West, may be closed after the parking lots at Ontario Place and Gore parking lot at Exhibition Place are full. This closure will be as needed.
Due to the large number of visitors and continuous events that occur with the festival, intermittent road closures may occur throughout the downtown core in the evenings and nights of Friday, July 29, 2011, to Sunday, July 31, 2011, in the interest of public safety.
Restricted access points:
In order to assist the safe movement of traffic, and to provide for as little disruption as possible to residents, the following streets will have restricted access for vehicles:
- Dufferin Street, south of King Street West,
- Dowling Avenue, south of King Street West,
- Stadium Road, south of Lake Shore Boulevard West,
- Queen's Quay West, west of Bathurst Street, and
- Springhurst Avenue.
Other streets, although not restricted to vehicles, will be strictly enforced for parking infractions. Those streets are bound by King Street West to the north, Colborne Lodge to the west, and Bathurst Street to the east.
Historically, Yonge Street and the Entertainment District access have been restricted in the evenings and overnight.
TTC
TTC vehicles must have free movement during this event.
There will be a temporary TTC bus stop on the south side of Lake Shore Boulevard West, near the Palaise Royale/Sunnyside foot bridge, for express buses to the Keele Street subway station. Approximately 25 buses will be put on this route, starting at 8:40 a.m.
There will be a temporary TTC bus stop on the south side of the westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard West, between Dunn Avenue and Jameson Avenue, for express buses to the Bloor Street West subway station. There will not be a southbound drop-off at Jameson Avenue and Springhurst Avenue. All drop-offs and pickups will be made on the westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard West, just east of Jameson Avenue.
TTC service to and from the east end of the event will be through the Manitoba Drive/Strachan Avenue area of the Exhibition Place.
TTC will stop at Strachan Avenue/Fleet Street, to enable any passengers attending Ontario Place to exit at this location.
TTC must also have unobstructed access at Springhurst Avenue/Dufferin Street. Illegally parked vehicles and obstructing vendors will be removed.
Ontario Place access:
All access to Ontario Place will be through Remembrance Drive at Lake Shore Boulevard West/Strachan Avenue. Vehicles exiting Ontario Place will do so only at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Ontario Place Boulevard, and will travel eastbound on Lake Shore Boulevard West only.
Disabled parking:
Disabled parking will be at the Direct Energy Centre within the CNE grounds.
Enter via Manitoba Drive/Strachan Avenue, then south on Canada Boulevard to the entrance ramp of the Direct Energy Centre. Valid disabled parking permits must be shown.
Towing policy:
All vehicles, including tour buses, will be tagged and towed if parked illegally on:
- Lake Shore Boulevard West (including the grassed area),
- Bathurst Street,
- Fleet Street,
- King Street West,
- Queen Street West,
- Roncesvalles Avenue,
- Dufferin Street,
- Parkdale Road,
- Stadium Road,
- The Queensway, and
- Gardiner Expressway.
The Gardiner Expressway is a restricted-access highway which will be patrolled to ensure that vehicles are not parked adjacent to the parade route and that pedestrians do not enter the highway area. Drivers who choose to stop or drive in a manner that puts other road-users at risk will be subject to strict enforcement.
Please be aware of alternative routes before heading into the downtown or Entertainment District areas to avoid delays.

Public Safety Alert, Potential sex offender, Lansdowne Avenue/Davenport Road area
The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a potential sex offender.

It is reported that:
- on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 12:30 a.m., two women saw a man looking into their ground-floor window,
- the man then exposed himself and fled the scene.
The man is described as white, 35-45, heavy build with short, light-brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue shorts and no shirt.
It is believed the same suspect has committed other, similar, acts in the area.

The Toronto Police Service will be hosting the Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto Kick-Off Ceremony on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at noon, in the front courtyard at police headquarters.
Chief William Blair and Acting Toronto Police Services Board Chair Michael Thompson, along with other community leaders and dignitaries, will be in attendance. Following the ceremony, at 1 p.m., a charity BBQ will be held with all proceeds going to the Childrens Breakfast Club.
The Children's Breakfast Club is a non-profit charitable organization that believes every child is entitled to a nutritious breakfast. An estimated 5,000 meals are served each week in the 20+ clubs across the Greater Toronto area.

TPS officer charged
A Toronto Police Service officer has been arrested and charged.
Constable Matthew Glen, 32, with 10 years' service, is currently attached to 41 Division.
It is alleged that:
- on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 3:47 a.m., a man was arrested by police and taken to 41 Division,
- while at the police station, the accused, who was not involved in the arrest of the victim but was the Booking Officer, assaulted the victim.
On Friday, July 22, 2011, the accused was arrested and charged with:
1) Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Monday, September 12, 2011, room 505, at 10 a.m.

Traffic fatality #15/2011
On Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 1:49 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision in the Lawrence Avenue East/Overture Road area.
It is reported that:
- a 66-year-old man was driving a Subara Forester with his passenger, a three-year-old girl, eastbound on Lawrence Avenue East,
- the driver lost control of his vehicle due to a medical condition,
- the vehicle then struck a TTC bus, which was stopped on Lawrence Avenue East, heading in the opposite direction.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three-year-old girl was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Youth Day, Sunday, July 24, 2011, Road closures
On Sunday July 24, 2011, Youth Day is scheduled to take place at Yonge/ Dundas Square.
The following road closures will be in effect:
- Yonge Street, from Edward Street to Shuter Street, will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- the Shuter Street intersection will remain open to allow access for vehicles entering or exiting the Eaton Centre parking lot,
- Dundas Square Street, from Yonge Street to OKeefe Lane, will be closed for this event,
- Dundas Street will remain open.
The following road closures will be in effect:

Sexual assault investigation, Man wanted, Update, Security camera video and image of suspect released
On July 15, 2011, the TPS issued a news release regarding a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.
It was reported that:
- on Monday, July 11, 2011, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 21-year-old woman was walking on a pathway between Averill Crescent and Deering Crescent,
- she was grabbed by an unknown man and sexually assaulted.
