NASHVILLE TN. Metro Nashville and Vanderbilt University police officers were on high alert over the week-end as they searched for a man who had raped a woman in a parking garage at the university and was accused of sexually attacking several other women near the campus.
On Sunday, Metro police say that a Centennial Memorial Hospital security officer spotted the wanted man, Tyrone Batts, 25, on foot on Leslie Avenue and took him into custody.
Police have charged Batts with two counts of rape, attempted rape and robbery involving a number of incidents.
At the time of his arrest, Batts was on $50,000 bond for aggravated robbery and felon in possession of a weapon charges. He was also convicted of indecent exposure in July 2011, and was sentenced to three years for cocaine possession in 2008.

MONTGOMERY, AL - Montgomery police have arrested two men for a shooting and are continuing their investigating of the shooting at Eastdale Mall.
The victim, an unidentified adult male, was shot multiple times, according to police on the scene. The victim was rushed to Baptist South Medical Center for surgery. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
The shooting occurred at 3:20pm in the Sears parking lot closest to the Belk department store. The suspects were seen fleeing in the direction of the Max Credit Union.
Mall security responded and followed two suspects, according to police. Alabama State Troopers also put a helicopter in the air to assist in the search.
Montgomery police were alerted by security that the suspects had abandoned their car and were running on foot and near-by officers pursued the two suspects.
Officers took the unidentified individuals into custody a short time later.
Authorities say this was not a random act of violence. The victim was targeted and there were no other individuals harmed in the incident. There’s no other information available at the moment.
Police say that it was because of the mall security officer’s efforts to tail the men that police were able to make a quick arrest.
SOMERVILLE NJ- Quick thinking by a security guard saved a 57-year-old woman from a carjacking early Saturday morning. According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano and Somerville Borough Chief of Police Dennis Manning, Raymond K. Kaeser III, 20, of Highland Road in the Colonia section of Woodbridge was arrested in connection with the incident.
Soriano said that at 4:05 a.m., the female victim was sitting in her parked vehicle in Somerset Medical Center’s parking deck when Kaeser entered her vehicle by smashing the rear passenger window with his fist. According to the prosecutor, once inside the victim’s vehicle, he ordered her to drive out of the deck. When she refused, Soriano said, the defendant threatened to kill her.
As the victim began to drive toward the parking deck exit, she flagged down a hospital security guard, Soriano said. Seeing that the victim alerted the guard, Kaiser pushed the victim’s right leg down on the gas pedal in an attempt to get her to continue driving. The security guard intervened and notified the Somerville Police Department, the prosecutor said.
Somerville police responded and arrested Kaeser without incident.
Kaeser was charged with carjacking, first degree, and was sent to the Somerset County Jail. Bail was set by Judge Margaret Goodzeit at $100,000, cash only.

COURT SECURITY SHOOT-KILL ARMED MAN
MIDDLETOWN, N.Y.- A man killed in a gunfight with security officers at a courthouse Wednesday was convicted a week ago of menacing the city mayor’s daughter and was angry at the mayor, according to authorities and court documents.
Timothy Mulqueen, of Middletown, opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun in the lobby of his hometown courthouse at about 9 a.m. Officers returned fired as people in the building dove under desks and scrambled for the rear door, authorities said.
“He had more rounds for the shotgun and had he made it past the officers, who knows what mayhem might have ensued,” said David Bookstaver, spokesman for the state office in charge of New York’s local court system. “It appears at this point that the officers may have saved countless lives.”
The 43-year-old Mulqueen died at a hospital. One of the officers suffered a graze wound to the arm, and two others were treated for shock.

Dothan AL Police have charged a security guard at a rapper’s concert with shooting a Dothan man to death outside a downtown nightclub early Sunday morning.
Dothan Police Sgt. Will Glover said police investigators have arrested Travarius Dewaunkalis Daniel, 30, of Birmingham and charged him with murder. Daniel is being held without bail.
Dothan police found 26-year-old Anthony Jerome Robinson with a gunshot wound to the chest just outside a club called Primetime. Police responded around 3:15 a.m. to the club located on East Powell Street. Robinson died at Southeast Alabama Medical Center later Sunday morning.
Dothan attorney Billy Joe Sheffield, who has been retained to represent Daniel, said his client worked as head of security for the promotional group hired by Primetime. Daniel was not a member of the security for the rapper, Webbie.
Glover, the supervisor of the violent crimes unit, said about 50 people were gathered up by police after the murder, which he said included Daniel.
Glover said the murder was the result of an altercation that started inside the club, and escalated outside.
“There were approximately 30 people that we believe were involved in the altercation, and at this time it’s unclear if the victim was involved in the fight,” Glover said. “We’re still doing more interviews so we don’t know how it all started.”
A Dothan police statement said that during the fight, Daniel allegedly pulled a handgun and fatally shot Robinson. Daniel then ran across the road where he fired two additional rounds.
Daniel then tried to go into a nearby business before going back to Primetime where he was detained by police.
Glover said security for both the nightclub and the performer at the nightclub that night were involved in the altercation.
Glover said police charged several other people with misdemeanor marijuana possession during the massive investigation at the nightclub.
