The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

John Stewart Davidson, 66, was last seen Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in the Humber College/John Garland Boulevard area.

He is described as white, 6’3”, 180 lbs., with short, black hair, and was unshaven. He has a scar on his left upper arm, and a deformity to his left thumb. He was last seen carrying a Mickey Mouse bag and a plastic bag containing clothing.

He is known to frequent hospital waiting rooms and libraries.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Robert Keewatin, 69, was last seen on Saturday, February, 25, 2012, at 12:20 p.m., in the Dundas Street East/Victoria Street area.

He was located on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 11:58 a.m.

On Thursday, March 8, 2012, police arrested four people in connection with a fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between November 2011 and February 2012, the accused would target elderly people in the GTA

- the suspects would stand behind their victims while in a store, waiting to pay

- the suspects would look over their shoulders while the victim entered their PIN

- once the victim left the store, one or more of the accused would distract the victim and pickpocket them

- they would then use the victim's debit or credit card to commit frauds

Eva Caldaras, 27; Mariea Nicolaie, 29; Guta Stancu, 29; Samuiel Caldaras, 26; all of Toronto, have been charged with:

1) a total of 543 fraud-related charges.

They are scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Friday, March 9, 2012, room 509, at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.

In an effort to make the best use of police resources, a Lake Shore Boulevard foot patrol is replacing the 22 Division sub-station at the Toronto Police College, 70 Birmingham Street.

The sub-station will close on Friday, March 16, 2012, while the foot patrol begins on Monday March 19, 2012.

“This initiative brings the police back into the community rather than the community going to the police,” said 22 Division unit commander Superintendent James Ramer.

Statistical analysis demonstrated that the sub-station was not being used to its anticipated capacity. One full-time officer, working 220 days, completed 111 occurrences during the year.

The foot patrol will see two officers walk the beat on Lake Shore Boulevard West, from the Etobicoke Creek to the Humber River. The Toronto Police College and 22 Division draw 250 to 300 officers to south Etobicoke on a daily basis.

The foot patrol and sub-station closure were planned with community consultation. Police met with residents, the business community and local City Councillor Mark Grimes.

"I've met with both Superintendent Ramer and the local Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and everyone agrees this is a smart decision. We've heard from the community that they would rather have a presence on Lake Shore, and this responds to that," Councillor Grimes said. "It lets the officers from 22 Division interact directly with local residents and businesses on a day-to-day basis and really respond to local issues."

On Wednesday, March 7, 2012, a man was investigated in a theft investigation and was subsequently charged in two robbery investigations.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, November 14, 2011 the accused walked into a gas station at Dundas Street West/Islington Avenue, approached the counter with a gun and made a demand for cash

- on Friday, January 27, 2012, the accused entered a pharmacy on Rexdale Boulevard, armed with a weapon and made a demand for a quantity of drugs

Rick Szabo, 22, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Robbery while Armed with a Firearm,
2. Robbery,
3. Weapons Dangerous,
4. Theft Under.

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, March 8, 2012.

The Toronto Police Service will be celebrating International Women’s Day on Thursday, 2011 March 8, 2012, at 11 a.m., in the lobby of Toronto Police Headquarters.

In adopting its resolution on the observance of International Women’s Day, the United Nations General Assembly cited two reasons: to recognize the fact that securing peace and social progress and the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms require the active participation, equality and development of women; and to acknowledge the contribution of women to the strengthening of international peace and security. This year’s theme is “Fighting Hunger – Feeding Minds”.

The event will feature Master of Ceremonies Anne-Marie Mediwake, co-host of CBC News Toronto, and Keynote Speaker Ms. Laila Velocci, Vice Principal of Francis Libermann Catholic High School.

Light refreshments will be served in the Grenville Lobby immediately following the ceremony.
