Sexual Assault Alert, Man wanted, Update, Security camera image of suspect released on YouTube, Updated description of suspect also released

On Tuesday, January 24, 2012, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release regarding a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 3 a.m., a man approached a 47-year-old woman in the hallway of an apartment building in the Shuter Street/Parliament Street area.

- the man engaged the woman in a conversation

- the man and woman went into one of the apartments, where the man sexually assaulted the woman

Police have released an updated description of the suspect:

The man is described as 5'6", tan complexion, dark hair with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt, a dark shirt with white lettering and blue jeans.

Police have also released a security camera video of the suspect on YouTube.

Missing man, James Howard Graham, 61, Update, Second photograph of missing man released, including updated clothing description

On Friday, February 3, 2012, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release regarding a missing man.

James Howard Graham, 61, was last seen on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the Dundas Street West/Dufferin Street area.

He is described as white, 5'11", 200 lbs., medium build with grey straggly, straight hair. He was also wearing blue jeans and a fleece jacket with black sleeves. He wears glasses.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Man faces 40 charges in theft-from-vehicle investigation, YouTube video and photos released of stolen property to be identified

On Sunday, January 28, 2012, members of the 14 Division Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant in the Dundas Street West/Spadina Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- police seized a large quantity of stolen property, 7.28 grams of ‘powdered’ cocaine and 2.35 grams of ecstasy

Luc To, 33, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) 12 counts of Theft Under,
2) 11 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
3) 11 counts of Mischief under
4) Possession of Burglars Tools
5) Fail to Comply with Probation
6) Possession of Prohibited Weapon
7) Possession for the Purpose Cocaine
8) Possession of Cocaine
9) Possession of Controlled Substance

Super Bowl Sunday R.I.D.E. out in force

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind the public that R.I.D.E. teams will be out during and after the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5, 2012.

Impaired driving remains the number one criminal cause of death in Canada. In Ontario, approximately one-quarter of all road fatalities are alcohol-related. Over 16,000 people in Ontario are convicted annually for impaired-related criminal offences.

During Super Bowl weekend, the Toronto Police Service will increase its efforts to protect the public, with multiple R.I.D.E. programs and patrols targeting impaired drivers. The message is and will always be, “If you drink, don’t drive.”

Choosing a responsible option to driving is the first step. Options include public transit, designated drivers, taxis, limousines, and hotels.

Walking while intoxicated is also extremely dangerous. Many pedestrians have been seriously injured or killed by walking, stumbling or falling into traffic.

The best way to combat drinking and driving is for everyone to take an active role as partners in road safety. If you see someone who appears to be, or you know is, driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1.

You could be saving lives.

If you are hosting a party, ensure that you have non-alcoholic options available for your guests. Don’t allow anyone to drive away from your home if you suspect they are impaired.

Sexual Assault Alert, Man wanted

On Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., police responded to a call for a suspicious incident at Sheppard Avenue West/Arletta Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- a man was going door-to-door canvassing for a gas or hydro company

- while the man was at a home, he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old boy who is an occupant of the home

The suspect is described as Asian, 30-40, 5’6”, medium build with short, black graying hair. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue or black zippered jacket and carrying a black zippered binder. He also wears metal-framed glasses.

Man faces six charges in child pornography investigation, Photograph of accused released, Photographs released of pictures accused used online

On Tuesday, January 31, 2012, members of the TPS Sex Crimes Unit, Child Exploitation Section, executed a search warrant at a home in Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- the accused was in contact with young girls, using social networking websites: Nexopia.com, Facebook.com and MSN Messenger

- the man used profile pictures of a young man police believe lives in the Toronto area

- the man used the following email addresses and user names: sirazb@hotmail.com, shiraz900@hotmail.com, “sirazb”, “alex_isme” and “a1.sirop”

- the man counselled young girls to perform sexual acts online

Shiraz Nariman, 42, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Luring a Child Under 16 years
2) Invitation to Sexual Touching
3) Accessing Child Pornography
4) Make Child Pornography
5) two counts of Possession Child Pornography

Police believe there may be more victims

Media advisory, Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:30 a.m., Headquarters, media gallery, Child Exploitation Unit

On Friday, February 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Detective Joel Manherz of the Child Exploitation Unit will be updating the media regarding the arrest of Shiraz Nariman, 42.

He was arrested as part of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet.

The news conference will be available on the Bell TOC.

Two men face eight charges in drug investigation

At the beginning of January 2012, officers from 31 Division started a drug investigation in the Weston Road/Sheppard Avenue West area, acting on complaints from the community.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, January 30, 2012, police executed a search warrant on an apartment at 3328 Weston Road

- police seized a quantity of cocaine and marijuana

Two men have been each charged with:

1) two counts of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
2) Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
3) Possession of Proceeds of Crime

Due to an ongoing investigation, the names of the men are not being released.

31 Division officers would like to thank the Weston Road and Sheppard Avenue West community for working with them to keep their neighbourhood safe.
