WALMART DISTRIBUTION CENTER SHOOTING-SECURITY GUARD STABBED-SHOT FEBRUARY 22 2012

VA. WALMART DISTRIBUTION CENTER SHOOTING LEAVES 1 DEAD

 

DINWIDDIE, VA -  An employee at the Wal-Mart distribution center in Dinwiddie just south of Richmond shot his manager, then shot and killed himself Wednesday afternoon, according to the Dinwiddie County Sheriffs Office.

The shooter was a 32-year-old Petersburg man who had worked in the shipping department for 9 years. He was working on the day-shift and had just returned from his lunch break when he opened-fire, according to the Sheriff’s office. He shot his manager one time in the leg. He also fired two shots at deputies responding to the shooting before turning the gun on himself. The manager’s injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities say the manager had worked at the facility for 18 years. Authorities say she’s a 40-year-old Petersburg woman, but are withholding her and the gunman’s names until their families are notified. Sheriffs say they don’t have any indication that there was any dispute between the two.

The shooting took place around Noon Wednesday at the 1.1 million square foot facility off Route 460 in Dinwiddie. Sutherland Elementary School, located nearby, was placed on lockdown during the investigation. The lockdown was lifted around 1:45 p.m.

 

 

BURGLAR SHOOTS SECURITY OFFICER

 

CHICAGO IL. A security officer is fighting for his life after being shot. Police say that it appears that the security guard may have interrupted a burglary at a warehouse just after 2 am.

Police say that they are checking for security camera footage and canvassing the area for leads.

The security officer is listed in critical condition at this time.

 

 

LOWES SECURITY AGENT STABBED BY SHOPLIFTER

 

WARNER ROBINS GA Two men face aggravated assault and felony shoplifting charges after allegedly stabbing a Lowes’ security guard in the chest.

Warner Robins police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh says 58-year-old Alfred Thomas and 62-year-old Robert Broady, both of Macon, were arrested Friday.

According to police, security guards saw the men shoplifting from the Lowes on Watson Boulevard. When officers tried to stop them, Pugh says, one of them stabbed an officer in the chest.

She says the officer’s injuries were serious but not life threatening.

Thomas and Broady are being held in the Houston County jail without bond. Both are charged with aggravated assault and felony shoplifting. Pugh says more charges are pending.

SECURITY GUARD OFFICER DIES IN HAIL OF BULLETS


JANUARY 22 2012

CHICAGO IL - A 23-year-old security guard at a downtown Chicago Walgreens has been shot and killed.

Police say a shooter, later identified as 33-year-old Donte Simmons, a former employee of the store, walked in just before 10 p.m. Friday and opened fire on the security officer.

The victim, who police now identify as Troy Cameron, was shot multiple times in the head and body. He was found dead outside of the store in the city’s River North neighborhood.

It’s unclear whether the security officer exchanged gunfire, but bullets were found embedded in a nearby Chicago Transit Authority bus.

The suspect reportedly fled on foot but was later found dead in alley of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Simmons was also a suspect in another Friday shooting on Chicago’s North Side not far from where his body was found. No details about the victim in that shooting have been released.

A gun was recovered near Simmons’ body.

A Walgreens spokesman says counseling will be provided for employees at their request.

SECURITY GUARD SHOT-SAVED BY VEST

SAN ANTONIO TX– A security guard involved in a shooting may have been saved by his bulletproof vest, police said.

The shooting happened at the Garden Valley Mobile Home Park in the 8600 block of S. Zarzamora near IH-35.

According to police it was around midnight Thursday when the security guard confronted four men at the basketball court. He told police he was asking the men about some robberies that had occurred on the property.

The security guard told police that a fight broke out and one of the men grabbed his gun, firing several times at him. The guard says he was able to get his gun back and fire at the suspects before they fled the scene.

The security guard’s injuries were minor because police say he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Police are searching for the four suspects.

Traffic fatality #3/2012

On Thursday, January 26, 2011, at 9:03 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Islington Avenue/Dixon Road.

It is reported that:

- the driver of a grey Toyota Camry was travelling eastbound on Dixon Road, in the left turn lane,

- the driver was making a left turn to go northbound on Islington Avenue,

- a school bus was westbound on Dixon Road,

- the 56-year-old driver of the school bus was the lone occupant in the vehicle,

- the school bus struck the Toyota as it was negotiating a left turn,

- a TTC bus, with approximately 40 passengers on board, was stopped on the northwest corner,

- the TTC bus was struck by the school bus after the collision but there were no injuries,

- a 66-year-old woman passenger in the Toyota died at the scene.

The drivers of both the Toyota and the school bus were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police request assistance with robbery investigation

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 11:50 p.m., a victim was walking along Valleywoods Road, near York Mills Road

- the victim was approached by two men, who asked the victim for a cigarette

- one of the men pulled a handgun and demanded the victim to follow him

- the two men fled the scene after seeing an approaching vehicle

It is also reported that:

- on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 12:05 a.m., a victim was walking through Underhill Park

- the victim was approached by two men, who asked the victim for a cigarette

- one of the men pulled a handgun and stole the victim’s backpack

It is further reported that:

- on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 6 p.m., a victim was walking through Brookbanks Park Trail

- the victim was approached by two men, who asked the victim for a cigarette

- the two men then assaulted the victim and stole his shoulder bag

The first suspect is described as white, 6’, 18-20, 200 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as black, 5’10”, 18-20 with an average build. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Police are advising the public in the areas of Valleywoods Road, Underhill Park and Brookbanks Park, to exercise caution while walking alone in the evening hours.

Missing woman located, Maria Christina Haritos, 36

Maria Christina Haritos, 36, was last seen on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 4:15 p.m., in the Leslie Street/Lakeshore Boulevard East area.

GUNMEN AMBUSH-SHOOT APARTMENT SECURITY GUARD OFFICERS

MEMPHIS, TN - Residents at a North Memphis apartment complex said they feel unprotected Saturday night after both of their security guards were ambushed at gunpoint.
Around three o’clock Saturday morning, gunshots rang out in the back of the complex
Police say two security guards were sitting in a parked car when two men armed with handguns approached the vehicle and shot the security guard sitting in the driver’s seat. One of the men opened the door and police say he aimed his gun at the second security guard, but the guard fired back. Police say the suspect fell to the ground, but they’re not sure if he was wounded.
The security guard who was shot was transported to the MED in critical condition and police say the suspects fled in a dark colored vehicle.
Brenda Davis, a resident of the complex, said she moved to the complex less than a year ago and this is the second shooting that she’s aware of. Davis said when the guards who are in place to protect residents become victims, she knows it’s time to go.

“When I first moved over here I felt safe, but now I’m going to move,” she said. “I’m not going to stay here.”

ARMORED CAR SECURITY GUARD SHOT IN CHARLOTTE NC

JANUARY 23 2012
CHARLOTTE NC – Police are at the scene of a robbery and shooting at the Foxcroft Shopping Center in SouthPark area of the city. An armored car with two security officers stopped to service an ATM when they were approached by an armed man who tried to rob the guard. In a struggle, police said that one guard has been shot.

Police say that the guard has been taken to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment and that the injuries do not appear life threatening.

Police have not said if they have taken anyone into custody.
