Man faces 10 firearms-related charges, Loaded shotgun, ammunition and drugs seized

On Sunday, January 29, 2012, the Gun and Gang Task Force, along with officers from 41 Division, executed a search warrant an an apartment on Lawrence Avenue East.

It is alleged that:

- a loaded shotgun, a starter's pistol, a quantity of ammunition and drugs were seized

Brandon Cooze, 19, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. two counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

3. Possession of a Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence

4. Careless Storage of a Firearm

5. Fail to comply Recognizance

6. Careless Storage Ammunition

7. Possession for the Purpose Cocaine

8. Possession for the Purpose Controlled Substance

9. Possession of Proceeds of Crime

He appeared in court on Monday, January 30, 2012.

Traffic fatality #4/2012, Seneca Hill Drive/Don Mills Road

On Friday, January 20, 2012, at 10:15 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision on Seneca Hill Drive at Don Mills Road.

It is reported that:

- an 89-year-old woman, driving a 2005 Volkswagen Golf, was travelling westbound on Seneca Hill Drive

- the driver mounted the north curb and continued along the boulevard approximately 10 metres before striking a tree and coming to a stop

- police attended and investigated the collision and the woman was taken to hospital with injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening

On Monday, January 23, 2012, at 10:40 p.m., the woman died in hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained.

17-year-old boy faces 11 charges in firearm investigation, Tech 9mm machine gun, .22 calibre rifle and Titan .25 calibre handgun seized

On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, members of 31 Division's Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant in the Jane Street/Sheppard Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

- police seized a Titan .25 calibre handgun, Feather Industry Inc .22 calibre automatic Rifle and Luger 9mm Tech 9 machine gun

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with:

1) three counts of Unauthorized possession of a firearm
2) three counts of Careless storage of a firearm
3) three counts of Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
4) Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
5) Careless Storage of Ammunition

The name of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Citizen assists in arrest of man facing voyeurism and mischief charges

On Saturday, January 28, 2012, police responded to a voyeurism call at Union Station, 55 Front Street.

It is alleged that:

- a woman was walking up the stairs to a train platform when the accused put a cell phone under the woman's skirt and took a photograph

- the act was witnessed by a citizen, who arrested the suspect and held him for police

Antonio Ruccia, 34, visiting from Italy, has been charged with:

1. Voyeurism for a Sexual Purpose
2. Mischief Interfere with Property

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, January 29, 2012, room 101 at 10 a.m.

Police request assistance with voyeurism investigation, Update, YouTube video released

On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release regarding an update in a voyeurism investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 8:55 p.m., a woman entered a washroom at Stacy Lecture Hall, at York University

- the woman noticed, in one of the washroom stalls, large shoes that appeared to belong to a man

- the woman exited the washroom and waited outside with a friend

- the woman activated the security alarm button

- the man exited the washroom and fled the scene

The suspect is described as brown, 21-23, 6’, 185 lbs., short, chinstrap beard, and a square jaw. He was last seen wearing dark-blue or black jeans, flat brown or dark-green shoes with beige soles and two lines down the side, a dark-grey hoodie with a black jacket over the top and carrying a dark brown or black backpack.

Man wanted in mischief/break-and-enter investigation, Security camera image of suspect released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a suspect in a mischief/break-and-enter investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 3:15 a.m., a man entered an apartment building on Oak Street

- the man used a brick to smash the large glass door in the main lobby, then enter the common areas of the building

- the man is also believed to be responsible for several break-and-enters in the area

The suspect is described as white, 20-25, 5’7”-5’10”, with short, dark hair and thick, bushy eyebrows. He was last seen wearing a black cloth coat, a black sweatshirt , a white undershirt showing at the collar, faded black denim jeans, and black runners with white accents.

Man faces two charges in marijuana investigation

On Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 12:15 p.m., officers from the Toronto Drug Squad executed a search warrant at a home in the O’Connor Drive/ Bermondsey Road area.

It is alleged that:

- police seized approximately 800 marijuana plants

Lawrence Johnson, 46, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Produce Marijuana
2) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Marijuana

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, January 27, 2012, at 10 a.m., room 103.
