On Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 2:06 a.m., police responded to a call for a fight at Sherbourne subway station, 633 Sherbourne Street. On Sunday, January 1, 2012, just after 1 p.m., police were called to a home on Airdrie Road for a missing-person call. During the investigation, police located a deceased person inside the home. The identity of the victim is not yet known. A man has been charged with Second Degree Murder. No further details are being released at this time.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 1, 2012, at approximately 5 p.m., a 10-year-old girl was approached by a man who propositioned her to attend a nearby washroom with him,

- he attempted to touch her in an inappropriate manner.

On Sunday, January 1, 2012, Hung Van Nguyen, 38, of no fixed address, was charged with Invitation to Sexual Touching.

Police are appealing for information about the accused. He is known to frequent the Dundas Street West/Spadina Avenue area.

He is described as 5'7", 170 lbs., black straggly hair, brown eyes, and a full beard.

Cathy Hughes, 49, was last seen on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 12:45 a.m., in the Yonge Street/Wellesley Street area.

She is described as white, 5’8", with a medium build and brown, shoulder- length hair, and wears glasses. She was last seen wearing a green jacket.

Police are concerned for her safety.

On Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 4 a.m., police responded to a call for a shooting at 101 Hupfield Trail.

It is reported that:

- police located a man, on the sidewalk outside the house, with apparent gunshot wounds to his body

- the man was pronounced dead at the scene

The victim has been identified as Jamahl Franklin, 20, of Toronto.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 2:10 p.m., police responded to a call for a stabbing at 536 Dundas Street West.

It is reported that:

- police located a woman suffering from stab wounds to her neck

- the woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on Saturday, December 31, 2011

The victim has been identified as Guang Lu, 45, of Toronto.

On Monday, January 2, 2012, at 12:30 p.m., police charged Chi Kuan, 57, of Toronto, with:

1) Second Degree Murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, room 101, at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 2:48 a.m., police responded to a call for a stabbing near 171 East Liberty Street.

It is reported that:

- police located a man suffering from trauma to his body

- he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died

The victim has been identified as Mike Pimentel, 24, of Toronto.

On Friday, December 30, 2011, at 11 a.m., police responded to a call for a shooting at 3895 Lawrence Avenue East.

It is reported that:

- police located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body

- he was pronounced dead at the scene

The victim has been identified as D'Mitre Barnaby, 24, of Toronto.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2011, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release regarding a child abduction/sexual assault investigation.

It was reported that:

- on Monday, December 26, 2011, between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., a man entered a house in the Bathurst Street/Wilson Avenue area

- a young girl was abducted from the house and sexually assaulted by the man

- family members located the young girl minutes after the abduction and saw a man fleeing the scene
