Two men, one woman, face 25 charges in drug/firearm investigation, Loaded semi-automatic handgun seized

In December 2011, the Toronto Drug Squad started a drug investigation in the Finch Avenue West/Jane Street area.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, police executed a search warrant on a residence on San Romano Way

- police seized a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana and a semi-automatic Browning 9mm handgun with ten rounds of ammunition

- police also located two children, ages three and five, in the residence

Marlon Davidson, 28, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) four counts of Traffic in Cocaine
2) two counts of Possession of cocaine-FTP
3) Possession of Marijuana
4) Possession of Unregistered Restricted Weapon
5) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
6) Possession of Prohibited Device
7) Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
8) Possession of Firearm with Defaced/Altered serial number
9) Careless storage of a firearm

Shashana Martin, 28, and Oraldo Mullings, 28, both of Toronto, have each been charged with:

1) Possession of cocaine-FTP
2) Possession of marijuana
3) Possession of Unregistered Restricted Weapon
4) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5) Possession of Prohibited Device
6) Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
7) Possession of Firearm with Defaced/Altered serial number
8) Careless storage of a firearm

They are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, room 101, at 10 a.m.

Missing woman, Lana Gore, 35

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Lana Gore, 35, was last seen on Tuesday, January 10, 2011, in the Queen Street West/Lansdowne Avenue area.

She is described as white, 5’6”, 170-200 lbs., dark-brown hair, brown eyes and has a pale complexion. She was last seen wearing a long, brown coat.

Police are concerned for her safety as she may be a danger to herself and others.

If located, do not approach, call 911.

Wade Chafe, 16, was last seen on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 8:39 a.m., in the Islington Avenue/Bloor Street West area.

Missing man, George May, 51

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

George May, 51, was last seen on Monday, January 9, 2012, at 7 p.m., in the Bathurst Street/Dundas Street West area.

He is described as white, 6’, 160 lbs., grey/brown hair with a full beard. He was last seen wearing a blue spring jacket, blue jeans and running shoes.

Police are concerned for his safety.

George May has a history of violence and may pose a danger to the public.

Police request assistance with shooting investigation

On Monday, January 9, 2012, at 10:15 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting in the parking lot of The Westway Plaza, 1735 Kipling Avenue.

It is reported that:

- police located two men suffering from gunshot wounds to the body

- an older black or green four-door vehicle was seen leaving the area

The suspect is described as a black man, 20-25.

The victims were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Media advisory, Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 10:30 a.m., Headquarters, Toronto kicks-off Crime Stoppers Month with official ceremony at Toronto Police Service Headquarters

January is Crime Stoppers Month and, to mark the occasion, the Toronto Crime Stoppers Program will preview a new public service advertisement on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, in the lobby of police headquarters, at 10:30 a.m.

Designed to attract tipsters on how to report a criminal offence to Crime Stoppers, the PSA campaign was created for broadcast and print media by ad agency DDB Toronto.

“This has been an extremely effective initiative in fighting crime,” said Toronto Crime Stopper's co-ordinator Detective Darlene Ross.

Acting Deputy Chief Jeff McGuire and Toronto Police Services Board chair Dr. Alok Mukherjee will announce the Toronto Crime Stoppers 2011 statistics and program achievements.

On hand will be Todd Mackie, Co-creative Director of DDB Toronto.

Toronto Crime Stoppers is a collaboration involving the police, community and the media, which began in Toronto in 1984, as a way to solve and prevent crime.

Police request assistance with theft investigation Description of suspects' vehicle released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a group of men in an investigation into the theft of copper wire worth more than $100,000.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at midnight, the suspects gained entry into a manufacturing company in the Keele Street/Sheppard Avenue West area

- the suspects stole a large quantity of copper wire and scrap copper, valued at more than $100,000

The suspects' vehicle is described as a five-ton truck with dual rear tires.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

James Billy Mayer, 25, was last seen on Monday, December 12, 2011, in the Jane Street/Sheppard Avenue West area.

He is described as white, 5’11”, 170 lbs., with a slim build, blue eyes and short blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a red toque, black leather jacket and a blue fleece tracksuit with red-and-white running shoes.

Police are concerned for his safety.

2011 Holiday R.I.D.E. program, Final update

The Toronto Police Service 2011 Holiday R.I.D.E. program has concluded as of January 1, 2012. A total of 2,232 officers carried out 556 spot-checks and dedicated 6,798 hours to the Holiday R.I.D.E. program in Toronto.

A comparison to the final results in 2010 is provided.

As a result of the Toronto Police 2011 Holiday R.I.D.E. campaign: one in every 20 drivers tested at a spot-check resulted in the driver being arrested for a criminal drinking and driving offence (2010: one in every 33 drivers tested).

Furthermore, one in every every nine drivers tested resulted in a warn-range driver's licence suspension (2010: one in every 10 drivers tested).

These numbers reflect the Toronto Police Service R.I.D.E. spot-checks only.

Two men face 48 charges in theft investigation

On Monday, January 9, 2011, police arrested two men in connection with a theft investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, January 9, 2012, the accused men drove up to five drive- thru coffee shops in Scarborough

- the accused men distracted the store clerks and cut the electronic PIN pad device used for debit transactions

- the accused men then fled the scene in a car with the PIN pads

- the accused men were arrested, shortly afterwards, and the PIN pads were recovered by police

Brian Thangaraja, 20, of Brampton, has been charged with:

1) five counts of Mischief under
2) five counts of Theft under
3) nine counts of Possession Property obtained by Crime
4) four counts of Mischief under
5) Attempt Theft under

Jayson Anthony, 20, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) five counts of Mischief under
2) five counts of Theft under
3) nine counts of Possession Property obtained by Crime
4) four counts of Mischief under
5) Attempt Theft under
