Homicide #10/2012, Linda Thomas, 60
On Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., police responded to a check-address call at 18 Hollywood Avenue.
Officers attended and located a deceased woman suffering from obvious trauma.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Linda Thomas, 60, of Toronto.
The post-mortem examination has determined the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.
There is no suspect information at this time.
Investigators are looking to speak to anyone who had any contact with the victim since the beginning of March 2012, also anyone who lives, works or frequents the area of Yonge Street/Hollywood Avenue, who may have had recent contact with the victim.

On Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 7:59 p.m., police received a radio call for a sexual assault on York Boulevard, on the York University campus.
It is reported that:
- on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 5:30 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was approached by a man outside her classroom at York University
- the man engaged her in a brief conversation, during which he sexually assaulted her
The suspect is described as having a brown complexion, 5'5", with a thin build, 140 lbs., with short black hair. He was wearing a dark winter jacket, dark pants and had a black backpack.
A security camera image of the suspect has been released.

Police are concerned for her safety.

25th Annual St. Patricks Day Parade, Sunday, March 11, 2012, Road closures
On Sunday, March 11, 2012, the 25th annual Toronto St. Patricks Day Parade will take place at noon. The procession will start from Bloor Street and St. George Street, and continue along Bloor Street, south on Yonge Street, west on Queen Street West to Nathan Phillips Square.
As a result of this event, a full road closure will take place on Bloor Street, Yonge Street and Queen Street West. A number of secondary roads will also be closed or partially closed, affecting traffic flow in the area.
Road closures: 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

- Devonshire Place (full road), Bloor Street West to Hoskin Avenue

Man wanted in bank robbery investigation, Security camera images of suspect, Update, One man arrested, second man sought
On Friday, January 13, 2012, police issued a news release regarding an armed robbery investigation.
It was reported that:
- on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 6:35 p.m. an armed man, wearing a Halloween mask, walked into a bank in the Kennedy Road/Steeles Avenue East area
- the man pointed a gun at two tellers, handed over a black duffle bag and demanded money
- the man pointed the gun to the ceiling and fired a single shot
- the man fled the scene with a quantity of money in a green, older Nissan vehicle
The suspect is described as white, 5'5"-5'9". He was last seen wearing a Halloween mask, large, black-framed-glasses, a black coat and black pants.
It is alleged that:
- on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 12:12 p.m., the accused went to a car wash in the Warden Avenue/Danforth Road area
- the accused deposited marked bank bills into a coin dispenser machine
Police believe this incident is related to the bank robbery
Bradley Naseiro, 34, of no fixed address, has been charged with:
1) Possession Property obtained by Crime
Police are still seeking the public's assistance identifying the man allegedly responsible for the bank robbery.

Human remains identified, Mariam Makhniashvili, 17
On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 2:30 p.m., skeletal human remains were located in the Yonge Street/401 area by two men who were walking in the area.
The remains were located on the south side of the eastbound off-ramp of the 401, beside the overpass, in a wooded area.
With the assistance of a Forensic Pathologist and a Forensic Anthropologist, the remains were removed to the Coroner's building.
The remains have been positively identified as Mariam Makhniashvili, 17, who was reported missing Monday, September 14, 2009.

The post-mortem indicated that the cause of death was consistent with a fall from a significant height.
As a result of investigations conducted to date, taking the post-mortem results into consideration, the findings are not consistent with a homicide or a suspicious death.
The remains were located on the south side of the eastbound off-ramp of the 401, beside the overpass, in a wooded area.
