On Friday, February 24, 2012, at 4:20 p.m., Carlos Alfredo Raffo, 44, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Personating a Peace Officer
2) Extortion

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 10 a.m., room 101.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Five men face 16 charges in fraud investigation

On Sunday, February 26, 2012, the Toronto Police Service executed a search warrant at 8 Westmore Drive, commonly known as Dr. Flea's Flea Market.

It is alleged that:

- police located and seized 3,343 fraudulent DVDs from a flea market booth,
with a value of $66,860

Xiaoyu Wang, 29, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Fail to Comply with Probation

Zhiyong Quan, 32, of Richmond Hill; Jiyun Chen, 22, of Toronto; Yu Zhang, 18, of Toronto, have each been charged with:

1) Fraud Over
2) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Stolen Goods Over
3) Possession of Proceeds of Crime
4) Conspiracy to commit indictable offence

Xiang Jiang, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Fraud Over
2) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Stolen Goods Over
3) Conspiracy to commit indictable offence

The Toronto Police Service would like to alert the public to a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, a man responded to an online ad

- the ad was posted by a 20-year-old woman who was looking for work

- the man invited the woman to his residence to conduct an interview

- while at his residence, the man sexually assaulted her

Ameer El-Azmi, 24, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Sexual Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Monday, February 27, 2012, at 10 a.m., room 412.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Missing man, Ajay Mathur, 20, Update

On Thursday, January 5, 2012, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Ajay Mathur, 20, was last seen on Friday, December 24, 2011, in the John Garland Boulevard/Martin Grove Road area, and was last spoken to over the phone on Saturday, December 30, 2011.

Missing woman, Manija Rahim, 35

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Manija Rahim, 35, was last seen on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 12:30 p.m., in the Richgrove Road/Martin Grove Road area.

She is described as 5’5", 110 lbs., medium build, with black, curly hair, brown eyes and a mole on her forehead.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red winter hat and thick-rimmed glasses.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Lisa Taylor, 38, was last seen on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 3 p.m., in the River Street/Shuter Street area.

She is described as white, 5’6”, 150 lbs., She was last seen wearing a dark-grey coat, a red/white hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Police are concerned for her safety.

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) will kick off its 2012 crime prevention campaign, which will focus on the dangers of cybercrimes – online fraud, lottery e-mail scams, identity theft, phishing online scams, etc. on Monday, February 27, 2012, just before the start of Fraud Prevention Month (March 2012). Staff Inspector Bryce Evans, of TPS Financial Crimes Unit, will be present.
