Two men and one Young Person charged in arson investigation

On Monday, May 6, 2013, police responded to a call for an arson out front of Mary Shadd Public School, 135 Hupfield Trail.

It is alleged that:

- the accused set the children’s playground climber, valued at $20,000, on fire

On Sunday, May 19, 2013, police arrested and charged an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, along with a 17-year-old boy, each with:

1) Arson - Damage to Property.

The names of the accused men are being withheld to protect the identity of the Young Person.

The name of the Young Person cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

They are scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 10 a.m.

Three men face eight charges in gang sexual assualt investigation

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 3:47 a.m., police responded to an unknown trouble call to Windsor Street/Blue Jays Way area.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, May 18, 2013, a 22-year-old woman was out with friends at a nightclub in the Richmond Street West/Spadina Avenue area

-a 26-year-old man approached her in the club and struck up a conversation with her

- a short time later, the woman and her friends left the nightclub and were followed outside by the same man and two other men who offered to drive the woman home

- one woman accepted the offer and was led away to a nearby underground parking garage by all three men

- the woman was forcibly confined in the SUV and sexually assaulted by two of the men while in the underground parking garage

It further alleged that:

- the woman's friends were concerned for her safety and searched the area where she was last seen and alerted police

- police responded and located the woman

- three men were arrested a short time later

Hewad Ahmadzai, 26; Omeed Ahmadzai, 24; and Nazeef Ahmadzai, 30; all of Toronto, have each been charged with:

1. Forcible Confinement
2. Gang Sexual Assault

Omeed Ahmadzai, 24, and Nazeef Ahmadzai, 30, were each additionally charged with:

1. Sexual Assault

They appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Photographs of all three men have been released.

Missing man, Christopher Franklyn Brown, 24

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Christopher Franklyn Brown, 24, was last seen on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in the Queen Street East/Parliament Street area.

He is described as white, 5'5", 130 lbs., with short or shaved black hair.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Personal-injury collision now traffic fatality #15/2013 Mill Street/Yonge Street

On Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 12:31 p.m., police responded to a personal-injury collision at Mill Street and Yonge Street.

It is reported that:

- an 80-year-old woman was walking southbound on the east side of Yonge Street and was crossing from the north side of Mill Street to the south side

- a 26-year-old man was driving a 2012 Toyota westbound on Mill Street, turning north on to Yonge Street

- the woman was struck by the vehicle

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and subsequently died in hospital.

Missing man, Urmas Toming, 63

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Urmas Toming, 63, was last seen in mid-March, in the Yonge Street/Steeles Avenue West area.

He is described as white, 5’10”, 220 lbs., blue eyes, black/grey hair.

Police are concerned for his safety.

On Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 5:05 p.m., police responded to a personal-injury collision at Bathurst Street/College Street.

It is reported that:

- a 78-year-old woman was crossing Bathurst Street, from the west side to the east side, on the north side of College Street

- a 51-year-old man was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup, northbound on Bathurst Street, in lane two

- the woman was struck by the vehicle

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police request assistance with fraud investigation, Man attempting to collect money for police magazine

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with a fraud investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, a man approached a person in the Queen Street West/Bathurst Street area and claimed he was a police dispatcher

- the man did not produce any police identification and claimed to collecting money for sponsorship for a police magazine

- the man provided false information regarding the police magazine

The man is described as white, 30-35, medium build, long brown hair and a beard.

Deceased man identified

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance identifying a deceased man.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2 p.m., police were called to the Dragon City Mall, 280 Spadina Avenue for a man found on the sidewalk

Sexual Assault Alert, Rowntree Mills Park

The Toronto Police Service would like to alert the public to a sexual assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- some time in late March or early April, 2012, a 13-year-old boy was sitting on a park bench, with his bicycle, in Rowntree Mills Park, in the Finch Avenue West/Islington Avenue area

- a man approached the boy and engaged him in a conversation

- the man left, but returned a short time later and sexually assaulted the boy

The man is described as Chinese, in this 40s, 5'8"-5'9", with a medium build, and balding with only a tuft of hair on the top of his head. He had prominent lips, wide eyes, and yellow teeth.
