Media advisory, Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 7 p.m., Headquarters, second-floor auditorium, Volunteer Screening Process Presentation
On Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at headquarters, in the second-floor auditorium, the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with the Muslim Community Consultative Committee (MCCC), will be hosting a Volunteer Screening Process Presentation.
The presentation will explain the Vulnerable Sector Screening process in detail so organizations that employ people who have contact with vulnerable sectors can properly screen these prospective employees before being hired.
The presentation will also focus on ongoing screening on an annual basis.
Vulnerable sectors are primarily sectors dealing with children and people with disabilities. Employees include private school teachers, day care workers, coaches, child care workers, case workers, mentors, volunteers and any other employee who have daily and routine contact with people in the vulnerable sector.
The presentation is designed to provide information to organizations and encourage adopting a policy wherein all employees who deal with the vulnerable sector are pre-screened prior to employment and then screened again on an annual basis.
Adopting such a policy and actively participating in this process will better protect those who are truly vulnerable.
For further information, please contact Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu at 416-808-7065.
