Missing woman, Safia Alladina, 33

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing woman.

Safia Alladina, 30, was last seen on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at approximately 4 a.m., in the Jane Street/Finch Avenue area.

She is described as brown, 5'3", 110 lbs., with brown eyes and long black hair.

St. Francis of Assisi Church Good Friday Parade, Friday, April 6, 2012, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., Road closures

On Friday, April 6, 2012, the St. Francis of Assisi Church will hold their annual Good Friday Procession. The parade will assemble at 2 p.m., and begin at 3 p.m. It is expected to be completed by 6 p.m. The parade will proceed along the following route:

Formation area Grace Street & Mansfield Ave, full roadway

South Grace St., full roadway
West Dundas St. W., full roadway
North Montrose Ave. full roadway
East College St. , full roadway
South Manning Ave., full roadway
West Mansfield Ave., full roadway
South Claremont St., full roadway
West Treford Pl., full roadway
North Bellwoods Ave., full roadway
West Mansfield Ave. to the church, full roadway

Temporary road closures will be in effect on College Street and Dundas Street West, between Bathrust Street and Ossington Avenue.

Police respond to suspicious package, Elderwood Drive, Package removed for public safety

On Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 10:16 a.m., police responded to a home on Elderwood Drive for a suspicious package. Officers attended along with the Emergency Task Force bomb disposal unit. In the backyard, they located a container that contained what is believed to be explosive/dangerous material.

The area was secured and contained.

For reasons of public safety, the container was taken to the Leslie Street Spit shortly after 5 p.m.

The route to the Leslie Street Spit was as follows:
- south on Bathurst Street to Lakeshore Boulevard,
- east on Lakeshore Boulevard to the Gardiner Expressway,
- east on the Gardiner Expressway to Leslie Street,
- south on Leslie Street to the Spit area.

The container will be protected until Thursday, April 5, 2012, when it will be destroyed.

Police request assistance with theft investigation, Security camera images of person of interest released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a person of interest in a theft investigation involving Toronto East General Hospital.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, a man was seen wandering the hallways of Toronto East General Hospital, entering patients’ rooms while the patients were away

- when the patients returned to their rooms, they discovered their personal property had been removed.

Missing man located, James Kang, 21

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance locating a missing man.

James Kang, 21, was last seen on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 9:15 a.m., in the Old Kingston Road/Lawson Road area.

He was located at 1:30 p.m.

Public Safety Alert, Coyote sightings

On Tuesday April 3, 2012, police encountered a coyote acting aggressively in the wooded area by Cherry Beach.

As a result, officers were forced to put the animal down.

The area of the encounter had been cordoned off earlier in the day due to an ongoing and unrelated police investigation.

In light of several recent coyote sightings in the Cherry Beach area, the Toronto Police Service is reminding Toronto residents to supervise small children and dogs playing outdoors.

The Toronto Police Service also want to remind the public not to feed or approach coyotes. Although coyote sightings are common, the public is encouraged to report any aggressive or unusual coyote behaviour to their local police Division.

Project Spring Cleanup, 23 Division Spring commercial motor vehicle safety initiative, Update, Campaign results

On Monday, April 2, 2012, 23 Division officers conducted a two-day truck inspection campaign at the Woodbine race track, 555 Rexdale Boulevard.

The campaign results are as follows:

1) 313 Commercial Truck Inspections were completed

2) 196 charges were laid, ranging from equipment violations to unsafe vehicles

3) 171 plates were removed from vehicles for being unsafe

4) two charges were laid for carrying dangerous equipment.

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance locating a missing boy.

Daniil Luneyko, 17, was last seen on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 9 a.m., in the Sheppard Avenue West/Wilson Heights Boulevard area.

He was located on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 12:15 p.m.

Missing man, James Kang, 21

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

James Kang, 21, was last seen on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 9:15 a.m., in the Old Kingston Road/Lawson Road area.

He is described as 5’9”, 100 lbs., with short, black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, dark grey pants and red shoes

Police are concerned for his safety.
