VIRGINIA MAN ROBBED STORE DRESSED AS ARMORED CAR GUARD
FAIRFAX VA. An 18-year-old Fairfax man has been arrested for a second time this week after police said he tried to steal money from a local grocery store by posing as an armored car guard.
Fairfax City Police arrested Hodifa Abdulhakim Tunalli, of 11328 Westbrook Mill Lane in Fairfax, almost immediately after he tried to fraudulently collect a cash deposit from Shoppers Food Warehouse, at 9622 Main St. Tunalli entered the store wearing a BB gun at about 8 a.m. Friday and “stated he was there to pick up the day’s money deposit,” police said.

TEXAS SECURITY OFFICER DIES EN ROUTE TO WORK
HITCHCOCK TX – One woman died Thursday and another person was injured in a five-vehicle wreck that forced authorities to block a well-traveled road near the Galveston and Brazoria county line.
A Santa Fe woman, 66, was southbound about 5:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of FM 2004 when her car left the two-lane road in a curve near Kiddo Tacquard Ranch Road, Hitchcock police Chief Clay Kennelly said.
Police withheld the woman’s name until officers could tell her relatives of her death.
She was dressed in a security guard uniform and on her way to work at one of the Chocolate Bayou plants when she lost control and was struck by two northbound automobiles.
Authorities don’t know what caused the woman to lose control of her car in the apex of the curve, Kennelly said.
The woman who died was trapped in her car for about 15 minutes, Kennelly said. Firefighters were called to remove her.
A passenger in the second automobile to strike the woman’s car was injured, but the injuries weren’t life threatening. That person went by ambulance to a hospital, Kennelly said.
UNARMED SECURITY OFFICER ROBBED AT GUNPOINT
BEAUFORT COUNTY SC Two masked men robbed an Estates at Westbury security guard at gunpoint as she patrolled the community on foot Wednesday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
The 20-year-old female Securitas guard was patrolling near the 1500 apartment building on Kensington Boulevard when she was approached by two men wearing white masks and all-black clothing, said Sgt. Robin McIntosh.
The two men pulled out handguns and ordered her to empty her pockets and run away.
The guard dropped her cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash, then ran to her car and drove to the nearby Cinemark movie theater on Buckwalter Parkway to call police at about 7:45 p.m., according to a Sheriff’s Office release.
She told authorities the suspects were tall and muscular but provided few other details about their appearance, the release said.
She was not injured during the robbery, the release said.
Louise Haaker, president of the board of directors of the Bluffton condominium complex’s homeowners association, said the board has tried to make the community safer – it has hired security officers and installed exterior lighting.
The board also intends to install a fence and “No Trespassing” signs around the property, which abuts a wooded area and Simmonsville Road. Haaker believes the robbers were “unwanted visitors,” not residents.
“We’ve been very proactive since the last occurrences in the community,” Haaker said. “We just don’t have the power to regulate criminals. We can only react by putting in proactive measures and alerting the community to be cautious.”
Residents of the Estates at Westbury neighborhood organized a neighborhood watch in November, a month after two people were robbed at gunpoint.
Neighboring Westbury Park became one of the latest neighborhoods affected by a string of unlocked car break-ins when dozens of residents discovered someone had rifled through their cars Wednesday morning.

Police said the woman is 20 to 25 years old, about 5 feet tall and black.
She was wearing a black coat and carrying a purple backpack and a light-colored purse.
The man was described as 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6, black and stocky. He had on a black coat, a gray stocking hat and possibly a red hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone who can identify the two thieves or knows their whereabouts is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
