Fugitive arrested, Rustem Turnsunbayev, 49

On Friday, February 10, 2012, at 8:32 a.m., the Toronto Fugitive Squad and the Canada Border Services Agency arrested a wanted man.

Rustem Turnsunbayev, 49, was wanted on an Immigration Warrant. He is wanted in Kazakhstan for allegations of Expropriation of Embezzlement of Trusted Property, in excess of 3 billion Kazakhstan dollars.

It is alleged that:

- he entered Canada in July 2009 as a permanent resident and that he has been living in the GTA since entering Canada

Missing girl, Carissa Balkissoon 14

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing girl.

Carissa Balkissoon, 14, was last heard from on Sunday, February 12, 2012, somewhere in the GTA.

She is described as brown, 5’2”, 134 lbs., brown eyes with long, wavy black hair. She was last seen wearing grey pants, black shoes and a brown jacket.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Public Safety Alert, Police request assistance with break-and-enter investigation, Update, Man arrested, facing nine charges in break-and-enter investigation

On Tuesday, February 7, 2012, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release on a break-and-enter investigation.

On Thursday, February 9, 2012, Victor Szabo, 36, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Break and Enter with intent
2) two counts of Prowl by night
3) two counts of Mischief Under $5,000
4) two counts of Mischief interfere with property
5) two counts of Voyeurism

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 1 p.m., room 301.

Woman faces five charges in theft-from-mail investigation

On Tuesday, January 31, 2012, with the assistance of Canada Post, police arrested a woman in a theft-from-mail investigation.

It is alleged that:

- the accused was an employee of the Canada Post Corporation

- on Monday, January 30, 2012, the accused was under surveillance by Canada Post security

- the accused was seen stealing mail that contained gift cards

Geraldine Hollick, 64, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Criminal Breach of Trust
2) Theft from mail
3) Possession Property obtained by Crime
4) Open mail unlawfully
5) Open mail unlawfully

Police and Canada Post are encouraging the public not to mail cash.

Police request assistance with assault investigation, Security camera image of wanted man released

On Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 2:30 a.m., police responded to a call for an assault in the Harbord Street/Palmerston Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 2:30 a.m., a taxi driver picked up a fare in the Bloor Street West/Manning Avenue area

- the man requested to be taken to a location

- the driver told the man that the location did not exist

- the driver stopped the cab in the Harbord Street/Palmerston Avenue area

- the man became upset and assaulted the driver

The driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The man is described as white, 20-25, 6', with a muscular build.

Missing man Aurel Gropper, 86

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Aurel Gropper, 86, was last seen on Monday, February, 13, 2012, at 4 p.m., in the Ruddington Drive/Cummer Avenue area.

He is described as white, 5’7”, 140 lbs., white hair and moustache and speaks with a Romanian accent. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, black shoes and carrying green plastic shopping bags.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Tanelle Garbutt, 14, was last seen on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 6 p.m., in the The West Mall/Rathburn Road area.

She is described as black, 5’7", with a medium build. She has straight black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

She may be wearing a 3/4-length grey jacket, a black/white toque and a black/red purse.

It is believed that she was heading to the Islington Avenue/Dixon Road area.

Police are concerned for her safety.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a woman wanted in an aggravated sexual assault investigation.

it is alleged that:

- on December 24, 2011, a woman had sexual relations with a man without first disclosing that she is HIV positive

Priscilla Hogan, 38, is described as white, 4’11”, 160 lbs., blonde or light-brown hair and has a tattoo of a gun and flag on her left arm. She may also go by Priscilla Mambassi or Priscilla Mampassi.

Police are concerned there may be more victims.

Man wanted in bank robbery/break-and-enter investigation, Jonathan Hebert, 27, Photograph of man released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a man wanted in a robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 6:15 p.m., Jonathan Hebert, 27, walked into a house in the Dundas Street West/Spadina Avenue area

- a 59-year-old woman in the house confronted him

- he stole her purse and pushed the woman

- he fled the scene

It is further alleged that:

- on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 11:05 a.m., the same man walked into a bank in the Church Street/Wellesley Street area

- he demanded money from the teller

- he indicated he was armed with a gun

- he fled with a quantity of money

He is described as white, 27, 5'6", 150 lbs. with black hair.

He is considered dangerous.
